A native Rhode Islander, Miller is the Curator Emeritus of The Preservation Society of Newport County, where he served as Curator from 1995 to 2019; he received the Frederick C. Williamson Professional Leadership Award at the 2019 Rhody Awards for Historic Preservation and has published widely on the subject of Gilded Age interiors.
